Obituary

EAST HERKIMER-William Henry Bass, age 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon April 14, 2020 in his home after an extended illness. He had the care and support of his loving family at his side. Bill was born on July 10, 1960 in Little Falls, the son of Ruth Busch Bass and the late Everett J. Bass III. A lifelong East Herkimer resident, he was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On September 27, 2002 he was united in marriage to the former Jan Trivedi in Saint Francis deSales RC Church in Herkimer. Mr. Bass worked as a General Contractor and owned and operated Trivedi Construction Company in Herkimer for the past fifteen years. Bill had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. In his leisure time he enjoyed piloting his own airplane and was a member of Galaxy Aviation Flying Club. He was an avid snowmobiler and was a member of the Nick Stoner Snowmobile Club. For relaxation he rode his motorcycle, enjoyed boating, and followed Formula One racing, traveling to both Montreal and Monaco to watch the races. Most of all, he loved the time spent with family at his lake house. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family, especially his cherished grandchildren. All who knew him he lived life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of seventeen years Jan; his daughter, Jacqualine Ackler and her husband Miles of Kure Beach, NC; his sons, William Bass and his husband Umair of Syracuse, Joshua Bass of Herkimer, and Toby Hayes of Clark Mills; his mother, Ruth, of East Herkimer; four brothers, David Bass and his wife Karen of East Herkimer, Arthur Bass of Little Falls, Duane Bass and his wife Shirley of North Augusta, SC, Bernard Bass of Little Falls; four sisters, Julia Lyon and her husband Daryl, Valerie Gressler and her husband Christopher all of Dolgeville, Ruth Avery and her fiancé' John of Hinckley Lake, Carrie Bass of Utica; a sister-in-law, Colleen Bass of East Herkimer; three grandchildren, Isaiah Voorhees of Herkimer, Ryleigh and Cameron Ackler both of Kure Beach, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, William was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Bass, Everett Bass IV and Jason Bass. His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to friends Jessica Manieri, Sherry Farrington, Isabella Stone, Michelle Carney, and Sarah Sugden. Their love and support provided comfort to Bill and his family through these difficult times A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Saint Francis deSales Church at a later time and date to be announced.
