Obituary

JOHNSON CITY, TN-William H. Dingman, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in Lake Bridge Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born on June 21, 1929, in St. Johnsville, son of the late Silas Sr. and Fredrica Canfield Dingman. Bill was raised in St. Johnsville and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School. He furthered his education at DeVry University where he received a degree in electronics. An honrably discharged veteran of World War II he served with the US Merchant Marines. On February 5, 1945, he was united in marriage to Myra M. Wilcox Miller in Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of over twenty-eight years until her passing on January 19, 1974. In October of 1974, he marrried the former Beverly Kurdziolek in St. Johns Church, New Hartford, she preceded him in death on July 7, 2011. As a teenager he worked for the New York Central Railroad and later was a machinist for Burroughs Paper Mill in Little Falls. He retired in 1994 after more than forty years of dedicated service. After his retirement he moved to Melbourne, FL and assisted his brother in his air conditioning business before moving Johnson City, TN. Mr. Dingman had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls. In his leisure time he was active in various bowling leagues in Florida and was in a Poker League while living in Tennesee. Musically he enjoyed playing his guitar. To those who knew him he will always be remembered as a good natured man with a great sense of humor and was a pure pleasure to be around. He will be sadly missed. Surviving him are a son, Robert Dingman and his wife Sharon of Herkimer, one daughter, Bonnie Wezalis and her husband Johnof Ilion, a step-son, Pat Costello and his wife Deborah, two step-daughters, Denise Costello all of Johnson City, TN, Christine Papierz of Utica, five grandchildren, Timothy, Kimberly, Valerie, Adam and Leanne, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Jean Tripp of FL, nine step-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wives Myra and Beverly he was preceded in death by a son, Craig Dingman, a daughter, Sharlene Sherry two brothers, Richard and Thomas Dingman. A funeral service for Mr. Dingman will take place on Saturday April 22nd at 11:00am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer with the Reverend Janet Gleason, pastor of the First United Methodist Churh Herkimer/Little Falls officiating.
