ILION-William A. Humphreys age 68 of Sixth Avenue formerly of Gould Avenue, Richfield Springs passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday May 8, 2007 in Saint Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica.
He was born on August 31, 1938 in Norwich, son of the late William and Mary Esther Matthewson Humphreys. Bill was raised and educated in Utica Schools. For a number of years he was employed as a dairy farmer with the Fred Francisco Dairy Farm in Little Falls. After his retirement he lived in Herkimer until October of 2000. He then moved to Richfield Springs and for the past year and a half resided in Ilion.
To his many friends he will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had for watching old western movies and the collection of classic western movies that he cherished.
Bill had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life.
He is survived by four brothers, Jewett Humphreys of Herkimer, Earl Humphreys of Schenectady, Edward and his wife Donna Humphreys of Ohio, Eugene Humphreys of North Bay, two sisters, Charlotte Vaughn of Schenectady and Nellie Cline of Ilion, several nieces, including a special niece Pat Foster of Ilion, along with many nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Calvin Humphreys, three sisters, Carrie Chrisman, Helen and Henrietta Humphreys.
A graveside service was held today Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Saint Marys Cemetery, Rome. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
