Obituary

HERKIMER-William A. Ingerham age 69 of East German Street, entered into eternal rest on Friday afternoon October 17, 2003 in his home. He had the reassuring comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on February 10, 1934 in Ilion, son of the late William A. and Rose Tamburro Ingerham. A lifelong Herkimer resident he was educated in Herkimer schools. On February 26, 1955 he married the former Elizabeth Betty Atkins in St. Francis deSales Church. For twenty-eight years he was employed by the Remington Arms Company in Ilion, retiring in 1985. He was a parishioner of Saint Francis deSales Church Herkimer and a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge # 1444. After his retirement he enjoyed making birdhouses and woodcrafts. Bill was known to be a stickler for detail. With him things always had to be right. With this admirable trait he went to work for Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. He found great satisfaction in caring for the cemetery grounds and gloried in the beauty of the peaceful surroundings that he helped to create. During the time of his illness he found a special closeness with God and received his first Holy Communion administered by Sister Sharon Ann Boyd, Spiritual Coordinator for Hospice Care Inc. He was prepared for eternity. Here on earth his loving friends and family will always miss this caring, gentle and hardworking man.
