Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-William Edward Nalaskowski age 88 formerly on Richfield Springs passed away in peace on Sunday morning, October 19, 2014 in the Emeritus at Riverstone in Canton, GA. He was born on Christmas Eve 1925 in the town of Little Falls, son of Joseph and Mary Marcewicz Nalaskowski. William attended a rural school in the Little Falls area West Neighborhood, upon moving to Millers Mills he attended a rural school there and lastly attended Mount Markham High School in West Winfield. During World War II he enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and was medically discharged the same year. For most of his life he was employed by the Remington Arms Company, retiring in 1987. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending his leisure time on the lake in his earlier years. He had a strong faith in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. Mr. Nalaskowski married his wife the former Shirley VanAlstine in 1961 and shared forty three years of matrimony. She preceded him in death in 2004. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph and six sisters, Helen Miller, Bessie Golowicz, Lottie McNeal Metott, Stella Petkovsek, Jenny Foster and Mary Pavalock, many nieces , nephews, a special friend Richard Walkden and wonderful neighbors, Chet and Elsie Gould and Beth Zimpel. Bill most recently lived with his nephew in Canton, GA. To all who knew him he had a quick wit and a gentle demeanor. He was a true gentleman. He will be missed by all. Calling hours for Mr. Nalaskowski will be on Saturday from 11:00 until 1:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Bernard Osei Ampong, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors accorded by the US Navy will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Ilion Rod & Gun Club.
