Obituary

HERKIMER - William Parmon age 70 of State Highway #5-S, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening October 19, 2009 in Little Falls Hospital, He was born on December 12, 1938, in Herkimer son of the late Kon and Stephania Sarnowski Parmon. A lifelong area resident he was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On January 30, 1960 he was united in marriage with the former Wanda Mae Kast in the Mohawk United Methodist Church. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty-four years until her passing on February 18, 1994. On December 11, 1961 he entered the US Army where he served until December 10, 1963. He was honorably discharged having attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class. For more than forty years Mr. Parmon owned and operated a dairy farm on Route 5-S in the town of Little Falls, retiring in 2007. During that time he was active with the Dolgeville Co-op and had served on their board of directors. Bill had a strong belief in God attended Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, Herkimer. He was also a member of the Decarlo Staffo American Legion Post #8 Little Falls. Mr. Parmon will always be remembered for his gentle nature and warm smile. Any conversation with him was frank and to the point but you always felt a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be truly missed. Surviving are a son, William S. Parmon and his wife Valerie of Little Falls, two daughters, Lori A. Brooks and her husband Tom of Dallas Texas, Lisa Stahl and her husband David of Little Falls, two brothers and their wives, Harold and Doris Parmon, Edward and Joanne Parmon all of Herkimer, five sisters, Stella and her husband the Reverend Harvey Stocker of Orlando, FL, Ruth and her husband Warren Webber, Sophie Valente , Joan Parmon and Betty Parmon all of Herkimer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife Wanda he was preceded in death by five brothers, Kon, Adam, John, Peter and David Parmon and two sisters, Jenney Ovanna, and Elsie Case. Funeral service will be on Friday 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Chris Schumski, pastor of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. View MemorialGardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Parksinson Society or the Alzheimer and Related Disorders Assoc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to John Salemone for the compassion and care shown to their father during his illness.
