RICHFIELD SPRINGS - William Mills Robertson, 88,passes away on Sunday evening February 11, 2001 in Bassett Healthcare,Cooperstown. He was born on may 31, in the town of Warren, son of the lateJohn S. and Catherine Mills Robertson. A lifelong area resident he was educatedin Mohawk Schools. On May 31, 1936, he married Bernice Martin in the MethodistChurch Parsonage in Mohawk. Bill started out working as a farmer then went towork for the Highway Department in the town of Columbia and Warren. The last tenyears of his working career were spent with the Herkimer County HighwayDepartment retiring in 1974. He was a honorably discharged member of the US ArmyNational Guard. Surviving besides his wife of 64 years, Bernice are towdaughters and their husband, Shirley and Stephen Wasyk of Hatfield, PA, Barbaraand Frank Kasprowicz of Richfield Springs; six grand children, Sandra Truaz ofLeonardsville, Kelly Stone and her husband Jeff of Schuyler Lake, Terry Ward andher husband Matt of East Herkimer, James Truaz and his wife Marleen of Kentucky,Craig Wacyk and his wife Ursula of Sellersville, Marsha Hirst and her husbandScott of Scottsdale, AZ; sixteen great-grandchildren; onegreat-great-granddaughter; one brother-in-law Joseph H. Pickett, Sr. of Ilion;several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded indeath by a brother John Robertson; four sisters, Anne Zehms, Emily Mead,Elizabeth Tibbets and Genevieve Pickett. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00am in J. SeatonMcGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The ReverendGeorge Green rector of St. Augustine Episcopal Church Ilion will officiate.Interment will take place in Cedarville Cemetery later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receiverelatives and friends on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorial donation may be made to the Richfield SpringsEmergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
