HERKIMER-Winifred G. Hoyt age 89 of 104 North Washington Street passed away on Monday evening October 1, 2007 in Folts Homes, Herkimer.
She was born on October 22, 1917 in Fishes Eddy, daughter of the late Richard and Harriet Inman Gould. Winifred was raised in Walton, and was a graduate of Walton High School. She furthered her education at Albany Normal School where she received her nursing degree.
On April 13, 1941 she was united in marriage with Arthur P. Hoyt in Walton. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-one years until his passing on February 28, 1983. They first made their home in Deposit where Mrs. Hoyt worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Sidney Hospital. In later years they moved to Inverness, FL where she continued her nursing in the Inverness Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1981. In 2001 she moved to Ilion where she resided with her son Thomas and his wife Kathleen.
She was a member of the Deposit United Methodist Church and a life member of the Deposit Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Winifred was happiest when she was surrounded by the many friends that she made throughout her life and her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed.
Surviving are one son, Thomas and his wife Kathleen Hoyt of Ilion, a daughter, Judith Hoyt of Cornwall, one brother, Harold Gould and his wife Rose of Pavilion, two sisters, Blanche Richardson of Naples, FL and Marjorie Sexton of Dunnellon, FL, four grandchildren, Kelly Hoyt and companion James Zell of Sebastian, FL, Dr. Kevin Hoyt and his wife Tricia Onderako of New Hartford, Brian Hoyt of Ilion, Russell and Shay Velsor of Riverview, FL, three great grandchildren, Kayla Hoyt, Erica Hoyt and Olivia Velsor, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband Arthur she was preceded in death by a brother Lionel Gould and a sister Dorothy Rutherford.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Roger Klossner, Chaplain of the Folts Homes will officiate. Interment in the John and Mary Gould Cemetery in Gould, NY will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday two hours prior to the Memorial Service (4:00 until 6:00 pm.). Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Alzheimer Research Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
