MOHAWK - Yvonne Patricia Smith age 83 passed peacefully on Tuesday evening April 4, 2017 in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer. She was born on June 19, 1933 in Ilion, daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy Murdock Long. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Mohawk. On July 20, 1950 she was united in marriage to La Mott K. Smith in Ilion. They first made their home on McKoons Road in the town of Columbia until moving to Mohawk in 1995. For thirteen years she worked as a school bus driver, three years for Richfield Springs Central School and ten years at Mount Markham Central School as well as a full time wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed her home and took much pride in her special home decorating talents. Those talents gave a feeling of warmth and comfort to all who visited the Smith home. Yvonne was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband of sixty-six years La Mott, three sons, Floyd Skip Smith and Cheryl Moore of Adairsville, Georgia, La Mott K. Smith Jr. and his wife Robin of Leesburg, VA, Lorne Smith and his wife Jennifer of Monticello, three daughters and their husbands, Yvette and John Seamon of Schuyler Lake, Juanita and Raymond Rose of West Winfield, Robin and William Seamon of Monticello, one brother, William Long of Albuquerque, NM, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours for Mrs. Smith will be on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home with The Reverend Robert Martin officiating. Calling Hours J.
