EAST HERKIMER-Zackerus U. Burks, age 43, of Main Road, entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, October 16, 2006.
He was born on March 21, 1963 in Herkimer son of the late John Will and Lois J. Boykins Burks. A lifelong area resident he was raised in Jordanville and graduated from Owen D. Young High School . He furthered his education at the Institute of DeVry, Columbus, OH receiving an Associate Degree in Electronics. On February 4, 1998 he was united in marriage with the former Donna Gay in Herkimer. He had worked for OPTO Generic Development in Van Hornesville until 2003 when he retired due to health problems. He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Jordanville Federated Church .
Zack was foremost a loving father and devoted husband. He had a unique sense of humor with a hearty laugh that was contagious. In his leisure time he enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical, especially cars. Nothing can detract from the joy that we shared in knowing him and we rejoice that he was a part of our lives.
