Obituary

EAST HERKIMER - Zane E. Mosher age 76 of Folts Road entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 17, 2004 in his home. He was born on November 17, 1927 in the town of Danube, son of the late Henry and Maude Hawver Mosher. A lifelong area resident he was educated in Herkimer Schools. A veteran of World War II, in January of 1946 he entered into active service with the US Army. He served overseas in both Germany and France and was honorably discharged in February of 1947. On February 9, 1952 he married the former Betty Jane Kogut in Holland Patent. They have resided in East Herkimer since 1954. For forty years Mr. Mosher was a self-employed logger, retiring in 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post # 38 in Herkimer, a life member of the Polish Club and a member of the German Mennachor in Herkimer until it was dissolved. He will always be remembered as an honest and forthright man, who will be missed by his many friends and family. Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years Betty, three sons, Lee Mosher, Russell Mosher both of East Herkimer, Daryl and his wife Judy Mosher of Oppenheim, one daughter, Carleen and her husband Jeffrey Taylor of Holland Patent, four grandchildren, Theresa Volk, Matthew Mosher, Michael Mosher all of Oppenheim, Sulee Taylor of Holland Patent, two great grandchildren, Carter Mosher of Oppenheim and Elijah Cooney of Holland Patent, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Zane was preceded in death by a brother, Owen Mosher, two sisters, Irma Hull, Bernice Wank, a grandson Caleb Taylor in 1999 and great-grandson, Isaac Taylor-Cooney in 2003. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend Peter Puleo officiating. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends two hours prior to the funeral service (11:00 am to 1:00 pm.). Mr. Mosher will then be laid to rest with military honors in the Newville Cemetery, town of Danube. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
